Medical devices are used to diagnose, monitor, treat or relieve illness – from sensors and measuring instruments to telemedicine and single-use devices. Health technology is the broader category, where hardware, software and data work together to improve people's health. At Move Innovation we develop both – from concept and prototype to testing and a production-ready, approved solution.

Whether you have a brand new idea, an existing product that needs improving, or a need within a large organisation, we can step into all or part of the development process - always in close collaboration with your own team.
Regulatory requirements: MDR, FDA and ISO 13485
Developing medical devices is as much about documentation and regulatory requirements as it is about technology. We know the regulatory requirements in the medical device market (MDR) and have several years of experience navigating between regulatory demands, technology choices and the development process. We develop under both the FDA and MDR standards, so the route to CE approval is built in from the start and not something to repair afterwards.
From development to production under one roof
And the best part is that we can also manufacture the solution afterwards, under the same roof, in our ISO 13485-based production. That means your medical device goes from development to series production without expensive handovers between suppliers – and that traceability and quality are secured all the way.
Startups therefore require a different kind of product development. It is not about building everything at once. It is about finding the right first version: the version that proves the idea, shows the value and can take the company forward. Too much development too early can drain the budget before the product reaches the market. Too little technical rigour can create a product that cannot be scaled, manufactured or developed further. The balance is decisive.
Our experience with medical devices and healthcare tech
We have developed electronic single-use devices, highly sensitive sensors, telemedicine (including 5G solutions) and IoT devices with an accompanying cloud solution within Life Science.
Some examples of health technology we have helped create:
- Spiromagic – a telemedical device for measuring lung function in athletes and people with asthma or COPD. User-driven development and a thoroughly tested design made the product both reliable and intuitive, and it was nominated for the Danish Design Award.
- PlatoScience – a tDCS headset for neurostimulation, where we specified functions together with the customer's mechanical engineers and developed and programmed the electronics in-house. A central part of the task was getting the product CE approved.
- Eyemind – a simple, screen-free eye control for wheelchairs, letting the user steer their own mobility with their eyes. We manufacture GazeDriver, which is certified as a medical device.
- Novo-Nordisk – a system of low-power wireless sensor modules for controlling and monitoring production equipment, developed, tested and manufactured with us.
- GlycoSpot – the second generation of the SIRIUS instrument, a mobile micro-spectrophotometer for measuring enzyme concentrations, which we optimised for robustness, size and precision.

What is a medical device?
Medical devices are products used to diagnose, monitor, treat or relieve illness – from sensors, measuring instruments and telemedicine to single-use devices. To be sold in the EU, medical devices have to be developed and documented according to the MDR and be CE marked.
Do you help with MDR, FDA and CE approval?
Yes. We have several years of experience with the regulatory requirements in the medical device market and develop under both the MDR and FDA standards together with external partners. The route to CE approval is built in from the start of the development process, so documentation and testing do not become something to repair afterwards.
Can you help with warranty cases?
Yes. We can help with technical fault analysis, documentation, repair, replacement and assessment of whether a fault is due to production, components, design, use or wear.
Can you both develop and manufacture medical devices?
Yes. We can take your medical device from idea to finished product and manufacture it afterwards under the same roof in our ISO 13485-based production. That ensures traceability and quality and avoids expensive handovers between suppliers.
