For many companies the operations phase is underestimated. The focus often sits on development, launch and the first deliveries. But a physical product lives on long after the first batch. Components can be discontinued. Suppliers can change specifications. Customer use can reveal new needs. Market requirements can evolve. And products in the field can come back with faults that have to be understood, documented and handled.
