Spiromagic

Spiromagic is a device developed to measure lung function in athletes and people with, for example, asthma or COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). With a thoroughly user-tested design and an easy-to-use app, it is simple and straightforward to keep an eye on how the lungs are performing.
Innovative telemedicine - from idea to finished product
Spiromagic is a device developed to measure lung function in athletes and people with, for example, asthma or COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease). With a thoroughly user-tested design and an easy-to-use app, it is simple and straightforward to keep an eye on how the lungs are performing.
From idea to finished product, Spiromagic has been based on user-driven development, since the product exists ultimately to help a great many people. The design is therefore practical and makes Spiromagic remarkably intuitive to use.
The development of Spiromagic focused on the users right from the idea stage - it was therefore vital that the device was reliable, safe and secure to use. To assess whether the spirometer measured the entire breath curve correctly, an artificial lung was acquired that can generate every humanly possible lung curve.
After countless sketches, tests, user studies and prototype testing, we arrived at a finished product that can improve quality of life for a large group of people.
What Spiromagic means
The development of Spiromagic has meant that people with, for example, asthma or COPD can monitor the development of their own lung function over time, and so target their treatment and avoid attacks and emergency admissions. An estimated 435,000 Danes have COPD - leading to as many as 23,000 hospital admissions a year.
With Spiromagic, users can easily use the app on their smartphone to monitor their actual lung function and bring that data to their doctor.
