At Move, the production department is closely connected to the development department — and to the rest of the house. Electronics, mechanics, embedded software, sourcing, quality and production do not work as separate suppliers, but as one combined team. That means challenges in production can often be solved in minutes or hours rather than days or weeks. If an assembly needs adjusting, a component needs assessing, a test procedure needs adapting, or a design detail is causing problems, the right people are close at hand.
We can also take over production of an existing product
That applies both to products we have developed ourselves from scratch and to existing products already in the market. If you have a product that is manufactured elsewhere today, we can take over production and help create a more flexible, local and controlled manufacturing setup. That can be relevant if you are experiencing long lead times, high minimum orders, low flexibility, quality challenges or a need for more product variants for different markets.
When we take over an existing product, we start by understanding the manufacturing baseline. That can cover bills of materials, drawings, test procedures, component choices, assembly instructions, documentation, packaging and quality requirements. We then assess how the product can be manufactured stably with us — and where there might be scope to do it more cleverly.
From manufacturing readiness to continuous optimisation
An important part of that is Design for Manufacturing, or DFM. For us, DFM is not only relevant in new development projects. It is also a powerful tool when an existing product has to be made easier, cheaper or more robust to manufacture. Small changes in mechanics, PCB, cable routing, component selection, test points or assembly can often reduce time, error risk and production costs considerably.
That is why we can also help with cost optimisation. Perhaps an expensive or hard-to-source component can be replaced. Perhaps the assembly can be simplified. Perhaps testing can be automated. Perhaps the product can be assembled with fewer manual steps. Optimisations of that kind require practical manufacturing experience — and precisely because we manufacture the products ourselves, we quickly see where the improvements may lie.
In-house manufacturing also provides a strong platform for later upgrades. Once the product is in production with us, we can help on an ongoing basis with new versions, market adaptations, software updates, component replacements or technical improvements. That can be necessary if a component is discontinued, if a new market requires a different variant, or if customers ask for new functions.

The transition from prototype to production - or from existing production to production with us - is often a critical point. That is why we take responsibility for creating a controlled process, where product, documentation, quality and production all fit together. The goal is not simply to manufacture the same product in a new place. The goal is to create a more flexible and robust manufacturing model that can keep pace with the market.
