MoveForward Project Model
As engineers, we are used to testing, learning, improving and testing again. We have done the same with our own project model. MoveForward builds on more than 15 years of experience in product development and gives the project a clear structure, a shared language and visible progress from the first idea to production.
MoveForward Project Model
A project model built for technical product development
Product development rarely follows a straight line. You start with an idea and a few assumptions, build something, learn something new and adjust course. Some technical choices turn out to be right. Others have to be revisited. Customers give feedback. Requirements change. And new risks become visible as the product takes shape.
That is the reality our project model MoveForward is built for.

TRL
A shared language for maturity
Built on experience from real projects
As engineers, we naturally work by testing, evaluating and improving. We have applied the same approach to the way we run our own projects. MoveForward is the result of more than 15 years of experience, trial and error, and lessons learned from real product development projects. The model was not made to create more project administration. It was made to create momentum and reduce risk.
Inspired by the Double Diamond
MoveForward draws in part on the principles of the Double Diamond, in which you alternately open the project up to possibilities and narrow it down again through choices and validation. Before you invest heavily in one solution, you need to understand the problem. Before a design is locked, the most important options need to be explored. And before the product goes into production, it has to be documented, tested and validated.
Clear phases, deliverables and decisions
The project is divided into distinct phases with clear objectives. Each step has concrete deliverables, decisions and documents attached to it. That makes it clear what we are trying to achieve right now, what risks still exist, and what needs to be in place before the project moves on.

Keeping scope under control
It also gives a better grip on scope. Product development has a natural tendency to grow. New ideas come along, and technical possibilities emerge along the way. With MoveForward we can hold new wishes up against the project's goals and decide deliberately whether they should be included now, investigated later or saved for a future product version.
The biggest risks first
An important part of the model is working actively with risk. Not every part of a product is equally uncertain. If one technology, sensor, mechanical function or production method can decide whether the whole concept works, it makes sense to investigate it early. That way we spend the budget on removing the biggest uncertainties before investing in the details.
TRL: a shared language for maturity
We also use TRL, Technology Readiness Level, as a shared language for how mature a technology is. It makes it easier for developers, the project team, management and the customer to talk about how far a solution has actually come. There is a big difference between an idea that looks feasible on paper, a function that has been demonstrated on a development board, an integrated prototype, and a product that has been validated and is ready for production. TRL helps make that difference visible.
An overview for you as the customer
MoveForward also creates a clear framework for communication with the customer. You should be able to see where the project is, what we have learned, which decisions have been made, which risks remain, and what the next phase involves. That makes it easier to make decisions about technology, scope, time and budget on an informed basis.
Production built in from the start
Development and production under one roof is an important part of the model. Production is not an activity that is only introduced once the developers believe they are finished. Production, testing, documentation, compliance and operations are considered along the way, so the transition from prototype to product becomes less dramatic.
Flexibility without losing control
MoveForward is therefore not about trying to predict everything from day one. It is about creating a structured way of learning as you go. With clear goals, documented decisions, visible risks and shared milestones, we can stay flexible without losing control.
Frequently asked questions
What is MoveForward?
MoveForward is Move Innovation's own project model for technical product development. It creates structure around phases, deliverables, risks and decisions from idea to production.
Is MoveForward an agile project model?
Yes. The model leaves room for requirements, solutions and priorities to evolve as the project generates new knowledge. Changes are handled in a structured way rather than being ignored.
What does TRL mean?
TRL stands for Technology Readiness Level and is used to describe how mature a technology or solution is. It gives the project team and the customer a shared language for how far development has actually come.
How does MoveForward reduce risk?
We try to identify and test the biggest technical and commercial uncertainties early. That way, critical problems can be discovered before a large part of the budget has been invested.
Do all projects have to follow exactly the same process?
No. MoveForward is a framework, not a straitjacket. Phases, activities and deliverables are adapted to the project's size, complexity, risks and starting point.
How does the model help with communication?
Each phase has clear goals and deliverables. That makes it easier to communicate where the project is, what has been decided, what risks exist, and what needs to happen next.
Shall we turn your idea into reality?
Technical development takes more than good ideas — it takes the right skills. We have gathered hardware, software and engineering expertise under one roof, so you get from prototype to production quickly and safely.
