How do you avoid flashing in plastic moulding? When Coloplast needed a new method for manufacturing medical devices, Move Innovation was ready to take on the task. The idea behind the new production method was to create complex shapes through plastic extrusion by controlling temperature and pressure locally.
Development and production in the same house
To achieve the precisely specified shape of the plastic part, the temperature has to be controlled with exact timing, and in several local zones at once.
Move Innovation developed an advanced control unit that uses induction to heat the part quickly, precisely and far more energy-efficiently than traditional methods.
The whole process, from development to series production, took place under the same roof, resulting in a robust, highly optimised and production-friendly product.
